The Mayor's Office of Cartagena, through the Tourism Secretariat, in partnership with the University of Sinú – Cartagena Campus, the Santo Domingo Foundation, the GITLAB Foundation, and the Cartagena Chamber of Commerce, announced a new call for applications for its Tourism and Hospitality Diploma programs. This initiative aims to strengthen the human capital of the city's tourism and gastronomy sector. The program offers certified diplomas with 159 hours of in-person instruction, which will be held at the University of Sinú – Cartagena Campus.
The academic program will focus on four strategic areas: gastronomic processes and culinary innovation; management and innovation in tourism services; management of luxury accommodation services; and premium service in event and conference tourism, including table and bar service, responding to current market trends. The training is completely free and includes 50 hours of basic and specialized English, as well as the development of soft skills, key competencies for enhancing the sector's competitiveness and quality.
Participants will only be responsible for their transportation costs and must meet the established requirements, including having completed high school and guaranteeing the required attendance to obtain certification.
Through this inter-institutional alliance, the University of Sinú – Cartagena Branch reaffirms its commitment to regional development, contributing its academic capacity and infrastructure to initiatives that promote the qualification of human capital and the consolidation of Cartagena as a high-level tourist destination.
