The Public Accounting Program at the University of Sinú Elías Bechara Zainúm, Cartagena branch, seeks to train Public Accountants committed to the country's business development, capable of responding to the needs of the business sector in the information, control and management systems that support the economic, fiscal, financial and strategic decisions of organizations at the national and international level, with a deep sense of social responsibility, research training, emphasis on entrepreneurship and a humanistic approach.

To be a program recognized for the high quality of its students, teachers and graduates, leading academic production, national and international mobility of teachers and students and the training of professionals in Public Accounting; providing society with innovative graduates, with managerial attitude, critical thinking, competitiveness and with solid ethical values.

The Public Accounting program assumes the institutional principles and values, embracing and interpreting them in accordance with its professional actions and comprehensive training, as follows:

Its purpose is focused on the comprehensive training of professionals with sufficient theoretical and practical structuring to adequately respond to the needs and demands of the region and the country to achieve higher levels of competence.

Society expects much from the accounting profession. It is essential for professional accountants to accept and observe the ethical principles that govern all their relationships. Professional values, ethics, and attitude identify professional accountants as members of a profession and should be the foundation of everything they do as professionals. (IAESB, 2008). Therefore, the Public Accounting program at the University of Sinú is based on the following values:

The graduate of the public accounting program of the Universidad del Sinú Seccional Cartagena has the following characteristics:

The Public Accountant graduating from the University of Sinú Elías Bechara Zainúm, Cartagena branch, will have a defined field of action because all organizations are linked to the areas specific to the Public Accountant, either directly or indirectly. Therefore, they will have the ability to: lead audit and tax review teams, manage the internal control area, employ tax regulations, apply financial reporting standards for report generation, propose solutions to business problems, make decisions using technological tools, and manage cost systems and the organization's budget.

More than ten years of experience in the education sector, holding the positions of Teacher in undergraduate programs, continuing education courses and diplomas, Disciplinary Head and currently Head of the Public Accounting program at the University of Sinú.

More than fifteen years of professional experience in the business sector, commercial, services and solidarity economy as a Public Accountant, Financial and Tax Advisor.
