The University of Sinú and the Government of Bolívar are advancing in the construction of the Public Policy on Mental Health in the municipalities of Turbaco and Turbana

Turbaco, Bolívar, November 12, 2024 - The Bolívar Governorate, led by Governor Yamil Arana, in partnership with the University of Sinú, continues to strengthen the advancement of the departmental public policy on mental health, carrying out diagnostic and analysis activities in different municipalities of the territory.
From the Crisanto Luque Educational Institution in the municipality of Turbaco, Michael Hernández, a teacher and Social Outreach Coordinator for the Psychology Program at the University of Sinú, led a workshop focused on gathering perceptions and opinions from adolescents between 16 and 17 years old. The purpose is to develop a psychosocial diagnosis that will guide the creation of a mental health policy adapted to the realities and needs of the department.
This initiative, developed with the active participation of students, adolescents, and healthcare professionals, includes the application of questionnaires and specialized screenings that will allow for the identification of problems and opportunities in the area of mental health. The results obtained in this diagnostic phase will be fundamental for the development of a guidance document and the implementation of specific action plans that respond to the needs of the people of Bolívar in their respective territories.
The Bolívar Governorate and the University of Sinú reaffirm their commitment to building a robust and effective mental health policy, based on knowledge of local problems and joint work with the community.
