The University of Sinú -Elías Bechara Zainúm-, Cartagena branch, was the venue for the “1st International Congress of Sciences, Technologies and Innovation for Human and Social Development”, within the framework of the 2023 Scientific and Cultural Week. This initiative, which took place in the modern facilities of the university, brought together outstanding professionals, researchers and students from diverse areas of knowledge, in order to promote the exchange of knowledge and foster the creation of academic collaboration networks.

The congress focused on human and social development, approached from the perspective of science and technology. Throughout the event, attendees participated in conferences, colloquiums, and workshops that explored topics such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, education, health, and the impact of technology on social well-being. These discussion forums featured national and international experts who shared their research and experiences, providing a global and diverse view of the challenges and opportunities facing humanity today.

Among the most prominent speakers were renowned scientists and academics of international acclaim, who offered their perspectives on the future of technology and its role in social transformation. In addition, specific sessions were held for emerging researchers, such as the “First Interinstitutional Meeting of Research Groups,” where representatives from research groups at various institutions gathered to share the progress of their research projects. There was also significant representation in the entrepreneurship and innovation components, where emerging projects with high potential impact on the region and the country were presented. These activities not only motivated young researchers but also served as a platform for creating strategic alliances between universities, businesses, and governments.

One of the most appealing aspects of the event was the art exhibition integrated into the program, offering a space for the convergence of science and the arts. Throughout the week, exhibitions of painting, photography, and sculpture were presented, reflecting the creativity and cultural identity of the Caribbean region. This cultural component allowed attendees to experience a holistic approach to human development, recognizing that progress is not only measured in technological or scientific terms, but also in the capacity of societies to preserve and value their artistic and cultural heritage.

The 2023 Scientific and Cultural Week at the University of Sinú was undoubtedly a platform that showcased the academic community's efforts to generate significant societal change through research, innovation, and social commitment. The event underscored the fundamental role universities play in building a more equitable and sustainable society, where knowledge and technology are key tools for development. The University of Sinú reaffirmed its commitment to the region and the country, solidifying its position as a leader in promoting interdisciplinary dialogue and seeking solutions to the major challenges facing humanity.
