V Symposium of Anesthesiology Residents
As part of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the specialty in Anesthesiology, the V Symposium of Anesthesiology Residents was held: “Ultrasound-Guided Regional Analgesia in the Perioperative Period: An Approach The event, titled “From the Evidence,” took place in the Saray Castilla de Bechara Auditorium at the Santillana campus. Attendees included experts in the field, residents, students, and faculty from the health sciences. Also present were Dr. Rafael Llamas Cano, president of the Bolívar Society of Anesthesiology, and Dr. Michelt Perez Palmieri, a graduate of the first cohort of the Anesthesiology program.
“This symposium focused on the importance of ultrasound-guided nerve blocks as an analgesic and anesthetic mechanism for patients. Given that ultrasound and ultrasound-guided blocks are here to stay and have a positive impact on patient recovery and pain-free awakening, these are techniques and strategies whose dissemination and proper use must be ensured, starting with residents, so that when they begin practicing, it becomes a routine technique for them, providing numerous benefits to the patient,” added Dr. Juan José Morales, postgraduate professor in the Anesthesiology program at the University of Sinú.
The meeting concluded with words of recognition and gratitude from the residents to the area's teachers, who highlighted their work and dedication to teaching. 115 people attended.
