13th Congress of the Society of Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology of Latin America (SETAC)
The 13th Congress of the Society of Chemistry and Environmental Toxicology of Latin America (SETAC) was held at the Hotel Caribe, in which the University of Sinú, Cartagena section, through the Faculty of Natural Sciences, participated with the Presentation: "The Global Perspective of the Environment and Chemical Products 2019: Challenges for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry in Latin America", led by the international guest Dr. Ricardo Barra, dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and researcher of the Center for Environmental Sciences of the University of Concepción in Chile.
SETAC is an international organization dedicated to the study, analysis and solution of environmental problems; It also focuses on the management, research, development and regulation of natural resources. As part of its mission is the development of dissemination spaces in science of research and work carried out called SETAC chapters or meetings worldwide.
With the representation of our guest, students, teachers and directors, the School of Marine Biology was present and actively participated in the Latin American Biennial, which brought together representatives of the academy, researchers and companies from the public sector that are related to the problems environmental, especially with the contamination of chemical products at a global level and its effects.
Thanks to the support of the Department of International Relations, the Head of the Marine Biology program, Dr. Martha Janeth Torres, and the professor and coordinator of Research in Applied Sciences and Coastal Marine Systems, Dr. Patricia Romero Murillo, an agreement was reached with the University of Concepción, one of the most important in Chile and Latin America, intending in the future to forge collaborative work for different projects and academic exchanges, as well as achieve a link with the Faculty of Oceanography.
