The National Government, through the Ministry of Education, granted high quality institutional accreditation to the University of Sinú – Elías Bechara Zainúm, – Headquarters, Montería for a period of 4 years; as expressed in resolution number 0006197 of June 13, 2019.

Today, after 45 years of being founded and only 15 years after having obtained the character of a university, the main headquarters of the University of Sinú – Elías Bechara Zainúm – achieves the most precious award that is granted in Colombia to a Higher Education Institution: Institutional Accreditation, public recognition that fills us with healthy pride and forces us to triple our efforts to continue advancing with passion, patience and love on the path of excellence, in the light of an evident continuous improvement, so that “this flame does not go out”.

This is an important achievement on the way to the excellence that the University of Sinú goes through day by day and that permeates each and every one of the actions that take place in the Alma Mater, an institutionally acquired commitment that results in the benefit of our students, of our region, of our country.

Accreditation is the act by which the State adopts and makes public the acknowledgment that academic peers make of the verification they carry out on the quality of their academic programs, their organization and operation, and the fulfillment of their social function.

Is accreditation guarantees that the training processes that are developed within the Institution are of high quality, thus placing the University of Sinú – Montería Headquarters, among the select group of high-quality accredited institutions in the country.

In order to grant high institutional quality accreditation to the Universidad del Sinú – Montería Headquarters, a complex process was carried out that involved the entire academic community of the Institution, as well as strategic allies, graduates and various interest groups; The activities to achieve institutional accreditation began several years ago and matured, accumulating achievements and experience until achieving the accreditation that we share today with the entire country.

The Ministry of Education took into account to grant the High Quality Accreditation to Unisinú - Montería, several aspects, as stated in resolution number 0006197 of June 13, 2019; Among these are highlighted:

-The tradition of the Universidad del Sinú – Elías Bechara Zainúm, which dates back to 1974 when it was created as the Higher Educational Corporation of Córdoba and then, from 2004, as a University. It is committed to the comprehensive education of its students and for this it created the Unisinú School of Arts in 1998. Additionally, in its commitment to the region, it carries out social impact projects and is present in various municipalities of the Department.

-The institution has a Clearly Defined Mission and known by the university communitya. The vision projects institutional development until the year 2024, which, together with the 2016-2020 Development Plan, the product of collaborative work, sets the guidelines and strategies through the approach of three strategic axes: a) growth with innovation and impact b) academic and human excellence c) sustainability platform}, which is executed through programs, projects, lines of action and strategic indicators to measure compliance.

-The Educative offer of the University that includes 35 academic programs distributed in 18 undergraduate and 17 postgraduate programs. The academic offer is consistent with the training requirements of the region.

-The strengthening and qualification of the teaching staff.

-The university has 13 Investigation groups of which 9 are categorized in Colciencias in the call made in 2017.

-The research productivity and artistic creation which is registered in the Scopus database.

-The hotbeds of research distributed in each of its faculties.

-The decrease in student desertion.

The physical infrastructure represented in a suitable campus with modern constructions, respectful of the environment and provide favorable scenarios for the development of missionary functions.

For the rector of the Universidad del Sinú – Elías Bechara Zainúm- Montería campus, doctor Adriana Suárez de Lacouture, the accreditation of high institutional quality granted by the Ministry of National Education, “is a significant achievement that commits us even more to maintain the high quality of the Institution in our training processes, quality that is evidenced in the social transformation for which Unisinú has promoted throughout these 45 years.
