THE UNIVERSITY OF SINÚ IS BETTING ON THE RECOVERY OF THE JUAN ANGOLA CHANNEL
The University of Sinú - Elías Bechara Zainúm, with its approach to academic training through the Extension process, started the LAS CHAMBACULERAS project, which is developed as a commitment to the recovery of the Caño Juan Angola, through the creation of a macro community ecological tourism project.
Our rector, Dr. Rolando Bechara Castilla, in the company of all the school directors of the institution, made an observation and reconnaissance visit to the site, in order to identify the needs and thus be able to enrich it from each discipline of knowledge. With this connection, the aim is to generate better conditions for social development, which are impactful enough to improve the quality of life of citizens, primarily of the people who reside in that area.
The Caño Juan Angola safeguard plan as the main purpose of this strategic environmental project is related to the academic training of our student body, since it is used as a laboratory for young people creating spaces for interaction between the social environment of the city where they reside and its pedagogical development, through methodological formulations, project structuring and research that benefit the entire city of Cartagena, generating structural, inclusive and ecologically friendly changes with the environment.
