UNISINÚ SEMBRATON.
In order to encourage the preservation of the environment and promote the creation of green spaces, the School of Marine Biology of the Universidad del Sinú, Cartagena section, held a sembratón between the Plaza Colón and Santillana campuses, in which students, teachers , ecological foundations of the city and guests, had the opportunity to plant 16 trees of native species such as oaks, ceibas and mango.
Prior to the activity, awareness talks were held for the students, where emphasis was placed on the ecosystem services that nature provides us through trees and how human activities and large industries are destroying our forests and yielding to the deterioration of nature, climate change and global warming.
This conference was led by the Marine Biology teacher, Viky Pomares, and also had the support of external staff such as the Fundación Verde Esperanza, who helped with the logistics of the activity. Likewise, the Fundación Verde Que Te Quiero Verde donated the trees and the company Abonos Sostenibles provided the organic fertilizer used for planting. As guests, we had the presence of the staff of Ruta Verde Caribe, the Lions Club and Prolicar.
“From this first “Sembratón” came the initiative to create a university nursery that in the future will provide the plants that we will plant. The students were super motivated, they loved the activity and expressed their desire to continue doing it in the coming semesters. Our idea is to link the entire Unisinuana community and that the next plantings be in much larger areas.” Professor Pomares noted.
