BASIC COURSE ON DEVELOPMENT OF EMBEDDED DEVICES FOR THE INTERNET OF THINGS USING ARDUINO
Responsible Academic Unit: SCHOOL OF SYSTEMS ENGINEERING
Number of Credits: 3
Hours: 48
Schedule: MONDAY TO FRIDAY 08:00 – 10:00 AM
Course Description
The Internet of Things (IoT) is one of the fields of technological development with the greatest impact today, and it is considered to be the new technological revolution. In 2013, McKinsey Global Institute presents a document on disruptive technologies, and indicates that the IoT will obtain revenues in the order of 36 Trillion USD in the coming years. The popularization of Hardware-Software development environments using low-cost microcontroller and microprocessor modules, open and free access, represents a significant advantage for the development of embedded devices and access to compact, economical and easy-to-use communication modules, It allows IoT devices to be developed without great knowledge and at an affordable cost.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
Train engineers, technologists and/or technicians in the area of electronics, systems and telecommunications of organizations in the knowledge and development of low-cost systems that allow sensors and actuators to be connected, using the Internet of things as a first step for the development of smart cities, industry 4.0 systems and eHealth systems.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
- Know the Arduino environment and its programming.
- Learn to develop basic embedded devices using Arduino to read sensors and act on real systems.
- Learn to develop basic communications on embedded devices using Arduino and low cost communications modules.
- Learn to implement basic IoT devices using Arduino
