The training purposes of the program are:
-Train Civil Engineers capable of interpreting reality, with a high sense of abstraction and modeling capacity.
-Train Engineers capable of directing and implementing the use of resources in civil construction projects and models associated with the discipline to enhance and strengthen their interventions and production in organizations.
-Train Engineers who understand the fundamental aspects of design, development, appropriation, adaptation and innovation in the development of civil constructions. Optimizing resources, applying good practices and standards to provide solutions in organizational and project contexts.
-Promote in the student their ethical, humanistic qualities and their investigative spirit. Strengthen critical thinking and their interest in putting their knowledge at the service of society.
The Civil Engineer of the University of Sinú Elías Bechara Zainúm will stand out for his comprehensive training, his strengths in knowledge of the various dimensions that make up an engineering project, his commitment to the sustainable development of the region and his interest in improving the living conditions in their environment. He will be an engineer with abilities, skills and competencies for the management, design, construction and evaluation of projects who will be able to perform with ethical principles and both technical and administrative knowledge in the public and private sectors.
Upon completion of their training process at the Universidad del Sinú Elías Bechara Zainúm, and within the framework of our educational model, the graduate of the Civil Engineering program will be able to:
-Direct design and development processes in various areas of civil engineering.
-Design and implement structures, foundations, hydraulic-sanitary networks, environmental management plans.
-Supervise and build civil engineering works.
-Work independently or as part of a group of engineering professionals, and other disciplines, performing leadership and management roles.
-Promote infrastructure and construction projects.
-Generate companies around innovative business ideas directly related to products and services in the civil engineering sector.

The student:

ANDRES CAMARGO BOCANEGRA
Civil engineer
Ingeniero Civil de la Universidad de Cartagena, con maestría en Análisis Estructural de Monumentos y Edificaciones Históricas de la Universidad de Minho, Portugal y Restauración del Patrimonio y Proyectos de la Universidad de Basilicata, Italia. Ha desarrollado su experiencia profesional como ingeniero residente, director de proyectos de ingeniería y consultor independiente en proyectos de construcción, así como también asesor del Instituto de Patrimonio y Cultura de Cartagena (IPCC) y la Unidad Nacional de Gestión del Riesgo (UNGRD). Ha sido docente catedrático de la Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano en el pregrado de Arquitectura y el posgrado de Gestión y Conservación del Patrimonio Arquitectónico, docente invitado en la especialización de Gerencia de Proyectos de Construcción, y actualmente director de la Escuela de Ingeniería Civil de la Universidad del Sinú. Es miembro activo del grupo de investigación ESCONPAT (Estructura – Construcción – Patrimonio). Grupo en el cual desarrolló su proyecto de investigación para optar por su título profesional y ha venido trabajado en proyectos de investigación enfocados en la conservación y preservación del Centro Histórico de la ciudad de Cartagena de Indias.
