Analysis of the current state of the pandemic generated by COVID-19 in Cartagena
The District Secretary of Health under the leadership of Dr. Johana Bueno in the company of the Ministry of Health represented by Dr. Juan Manuel Benedetti Sarasti, developed an exercise of care and monitoring of the Intervention Plan against the pandemic by the Coronavirus COVID-19 , in the event entitled: "Analysis day, current situation of the District and follow-up economic opening", last Tuesday, September 8 at the facilities of the University of Sinú Elías Bechara Zainúm Sectional Cartagena, Santillana Headquarters.
The event was held within the framework of the DADIS – UNISINÚ Technical Assistance Agreement, with the aim of carrying out an analysis of the current situation that the city is experiencing, taking into account the Public Health measures implemented in the territory for containment and mitigation. of the pandemic. In turn, within the exercise, the processes of articulation and harmonization of the different strategies developed by the actors of the health system in the city and at the national level were reviewed, this event was represented by professionals who released figures regarding the COVID virus -19, also analyzing the impacts achieved from its actions in Cartagena.
Dr. Alexis Ramos Blanco, Epidemiologist of the District Administrative Department of Health DADIS, presented the behavior of the pandemic in the city as of September 3, emphasizing the monitoring indicators measured in the framework of the exercise of the Health Authority in the Cartagena district.
As of August 9, the district of Cartagena reported a total of 17,772 patients infected with COVID-19, reporting an incidence rate of 1.728 For each 100.000 inhabitants, just as a mortality rate of 52,2 For each 100.000 inhabitants, represented in 537 deaths. The highest mortality occurred in the last two weeks of June and July, being the maximum peak of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently there is a recovery percentage of 78,6%.
Within the framework of this exercise, the ESE Cartagena de Indias was summoned, who presented statistics on primary health care and the approach to prevention and care of COVID-19 cases in the city. Similarly, the District Secretary of Health presented the actions proposed by the Directorate of Public Health headed by Dr. Oscar Lindo and the ERI strategy from the CRUE headed by Dr. Álvaro Cruz.
The EPS, for their part, presented information under the framework of the PRASS Strategy suggested by the Ministry of Health on behalf of Dr. Juan Manuel Benedetti. It is important to highlight that an academic intervention was presented from the Universidad del Sinú Elías Bechara Zainúm Seccional Cartagena and the Universidad de Cartagena, who contribute to the implementation of mechanisms that allow the mitigation and control of the pandemic, as well as the possibility of an opening gradual economic growth that seeks to minimize the risk of outbreaks in the city.
In this way, we see that the behavior of the pandemic in the city has improved from the point of view of health indicators, the importance of maintaining coordinated work between all the actors in the system and the need to involve from all instances of the District, citizen and community participation with the aim of generating a collective thought in the face of the responsibility of self-care in all Cartagena.
