Mirror Class: Comprehensive Approach to Visceral Leishmaniasis
Within the framework of international cooperation between the University of Sinú, Cartagena section and the Catholic University of Brasilia, the Preventive Area led a Mirror Class given by the doctor, teacher, master and doctor in tropical medicine César Carranza Tamayo. The theme developed corresponded to the Comprehensive Approach to Visceral Leishmaniasis and was aimed mainly at students of the School of Medicine who attend the subjects of "Infectious Practices" and "Clinical Epidemiology".
This activity, which also had the support of the School of Medicine and the Internationalization Department, is a pedagogical strategy that aims to ensure that students can demonstrate the dynamics of teaching from other perspectives and with different facilitators from institutions around the world. , which allows them to learn about other experiences at a national and international level, strengthening and generating teacher and student mobility processes in the medium term.
“It was a very interesting experience, since we were able to consolidate knowledge regarding the epidemiology and clinical manifestations of the disease. This was a different and unusual practice to the classes we take every day in our university classrooms.” Andrea Goméz, a fifth-semester medical student, pointed out.
The auditorium of our Plaza Colón headquarters was the space where students and teachers were able to address the issue with an expert, who was able, through an audiovisual projection, to explain this issue that is part of their academic training and who also sought to expand knowledge and clear up pertinent doubts. , managing to invigorate the teaching actions and the day-to-day activities of the Unisinuana community.
