Job opportunities in Germany for Unisinú graduates
The University of Sinú, Elías Bechara Zainúm, Cartagena Section, through the Department of International Relations, makes agreements with entities worldwide, with the aim of strengthening the academic, professional and employment opportunities of students and graduates of the institution. This is how a new alliance was made with the Asklepios Clinic, located in the city of Hamburg, Germany. This is one of the most important in the country and the largest in its city and currently has 20,000 employees and different offices in various cities.
This is a job placement project abroad for health sciences professionals, more exactly for graduates of the Nursing program, with which it is intended that our graduates can establish themselves in Germany, a country which has high rates of development in education, science and technology. The need to cover available job vacancies motivated this agreement with our institution, seeking the training of competent personnel projected internationally.
A representative survey of 450 hospitals in the Federal Republic of Germany revealed that 5,500 full-time positions in hospitals cannot currently be filled. This corresponds to about 6,000 doctors or the 4.1 % of all jobs. Figure of more than 37,400 unfilled vacancies until 2019, so that by 2030 there will be a lack of 300,000 nursing professionals according to data from the German union "Verdi". The Directorate of International Relations of the University of Sinú, aware of these events in the world, highlights the importance of generating conditions for the development of linguistic aptitudes and skills. Through strategic alliances, the university seeks to train professionals in health sciences and all its programs with the necessary skills in a second language such as German, English, French and Mandarin Chinese, so that they can face the challenges demanded by globalization and the world.
Angelika Steinkopf, Director of Nursing at the Asklepios clinic commented:“I am very happy to be here today, choosing nursing professionals for our clinic in Hamburg for the intensive care and emergency area. We are convinced of the level and quality of the professionals at the Universidad del Sinú here in Colombia. We currently have 160 nurses in training and yet we still need many trained people.”
