The School of Civil Engineering works on the restoration and conservation of the city's cultural heritage.
Together with the Society of Engineers and Architects of Bolívar and other regional and international entities, the School of Civil Engineering held the event "Restoring and Preserving Our Cultural Footprints, Everyone's Duty!", an academic space that allowed deepening, through theory and the practice, value and importance of our heritage, as well as the challenges involved in the processes of conservation and restoration of works that represent history and culture.
Mario Zapateiro Architect restorer, assured that “thanks to the Universidad del Sinú for the important invitation to talk about a topic that unites us all, which is the topic of heritage in our city. Just as we teach our young people the traditional restoration or construction techniques with an emphasis on restoration where the city's heritage buildings are intervened”.
As a result of this work, the different entities and the School of Civil Engineering conducted a tour of the fortifications of the insular area, the routes of the lime kilns, on the Island of Tierra Bomba, which were essential for the construction of all the fortifications of the stone corralito.
