Unisinú held a Conference on Education and Prevention of Childhood Cancer
In the Saray Castilla de Bechara auditorium of the University of Sinú, Cartagena Section, the Sixth Academic and Educational Conference on Childhood Cancer was held. The discussion was held in order to publicize the essential aspects about this condition, some preventive measures were explained and information pertaining to how to treat or avoid said disease was provided.
During the event, the exhibitors provided information related to various fields and diverse knowledge, such as: Dentistry, Medicine, Pediatrics, Nutrition and Psychology. Likewise, there was a legal theme on which each of these disciplines are based.
The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Gloria Pérez Trespalacios commented: “Within our institutional philosophy we have a clear commitment to children, and in general terms, to the entire health training process. Therefore, the university will always seek to be present at events of this nature, taking into account that professionals are trained within it who, with their knowledge, will look after people's health tomorrow."
This act that has been carried out for the last six years, brings together both public and private entities which are related for the same social, health and development purpose. For this reason, this event was held in partnership with Fundevida, Funvivir, University of Cartagena, and had the support of the District Administrative Department of Health (DADIS), Radiological Center of the Caribbean, Casa del Niño and the Blas de Lezo Clinic.
Professional Doctors, general personnel from the Health area, Psychologists, Lawyers, Nursing Professionals, Dentists, Students, Teachers and Foundations attended the Conference on Education and Prevention of Childhood Cancer.
In the process of developing the topics, the speakers from different areas answered the most common questions about this pathology; among them: How to make an infant understand his prolonged stay in hospitals? How should the parents of the minor react to said illness? What should be the best way to face the duel when they find out? What are the indices of pain in humans?
