“WINGS OF PEACE” MURAL INAUGURATION
With the support and management of the Humanities area, the inauguration of the “Wings of Peace” Mural was held at the facilities of the Plaza Colón headquarters of the Universidad del Sinú Seccional Cartagena.
The realization of this mural that will delight students, employees and visitors every day, was in charge of the teacher Elvis Cárdenas, who seeks to materialize an artistic and investigative work that has been carried out for a year and a half in Los Montes de María and El Carmen de Bolívar, trying to reflect through art, a positive impact on these communities that have suffered the armed conflict.
Likewise, in our facilities this work represents a space that generates respect and commitment in honor of sectors of the country that have lived through violence, and also tries to involve and invite students and the entire academic community in general, to be part of these projects of social conscience.
The background of this activity goes beyond the visual, since it is the result of an investigation that is being generated with the Los Montes de María Research program within the framework of the Anatomy of Peace Project. Together with the students, the sketch was designed in which they wanted to integrate the concept of the wings that are leaves and the relationship between the natural and the diversity that Colombia has, managing to create this monument called Wings of Peace and which pays homage to Cartagena, considered the first free city in Colombia.
Additionally, the mural allows us to provide a gateway to the articulation of impact activities according to the Chair of La Paz, which has already been assumed as a commitment that the humanities area must advance and develop this year, not only with the inauguration of the work, but of all the necessary work so that a positive effect is fulfilled in the community, transforming hearts and making people assume the culture of love and happiness as a reality.
